Ciara Cummings

Ciara Cummings is an Emmy-award-winning journalist who earned her bachelor's degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Florida.

Ciara is a Florida native, born and raised in Orlando, who found her home here in the Peach State. In 2021, Ciara joined Atlanta News First. Her investigative series into “transit troubles,” which uncovered safety hazards within Atlanta’s public transportation system, earned her an Emmy from the Southeast chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The award-winning journalist began her professional career in 2017 at the CBS Augusta affiliate, WRDW News 12.

While reporting at WRDW News 12, Ciara honed her investigative skills by focusing on local government and policy. Ciara exposed wrongdoing by elected officials in her work on the city’s ambulance services, fire department, and county commission. She received recognition from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters and Emmy nominations for her work on ballooning debt in a rural town and investigations into environmental injustices of local neighborhoods.

While she found her purpose in journalism, her joy comes from service. Ciara is a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., whose mission is to provide service to all mankind. She is an Alumni and active mentor of Loving Assisting Nurturing Educating & Supporting (L.A.N.E.S.) Teenage Girls, Inc., a Florida-based nonprofit organization. In her personal time, Ciara enjoys journaling and coffee: there is never a wrong time for a fresh cup of coffee, according to the self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur.
