An abandoned mobile home caught fire on the 22 hundred block of East 5th Street shortly after 7:30 pm Tuesday.

Flames were shooting from the mobile home and the smoke could be seen for miles.

Many onlookers gathered to watch the firefighters work.

Two mobile homes nearby sustained exterior damage due to the heat from the flames.

Luckily, no one was hurt while fighting the fire.

"One of the problems we ran into is we are a long way into the trailer park which means we are a long ways from our hydrants so we ran into a water supply issue. We had to use two diameter trucks to get our large diameter hose down here to continue to fight the fire," said North Platte Fire Department Battalion Chief Jason Trimble.

The Fire Marshal was on scene and is investigating to determine what caused the fire.

One of the leads they are looking into is, there were possibly people in the mobile home lighting matches.
