The Golden Rule was in action at the Platte River Mall Center Court Saturday to help two local women with their medical expenses.
Rocio Bejar, who is fighting breast cancer and Marlene Peralta's daughter, Minerva, is undergoing dialysis for kidney damage from her last pregnancy.
Burritos, tacos, tamales with a side of rice and beans, along with dessert were on the menu.
100 percent of the proceeds will go back to Minerva and Rocio.
"I think that it's important to support community events and and these ladies that are having some medical issues," said local volunteer Dana Songster. "That's kind of what we do at RSVP, is identify community leads and help each other through service."
Bejar tells Beatriz Reyna, "today's gesture is a reassurance I am not alone in my fight to recovery and am grateful for their support.”
A little over $1400 was raised Saturday.
A second benefit will be held Saturday, March 30th in the former Joseph's College of Beauty building next to Gary's Superfoods.
A garage sale and silent auction, as well as food and raffle tickets, will be sold at that fundraiser.
Donations can be dropped off at the site on Thursday, March 28th and Friday, March 29th.
