On Wednesday morning people filled the area on Front Street in North Platte to see the historic steam engine as it made its way out of town.
The locomotive had been in North Platte for three days offering tours, pictures and information for train enthusiasts, some who traveled long distances to see it.
"Forty Fourteen steam engine train. All the way from Tulsa. I've been watching on the YouTube a little bit," said train enthusiast Art Moore of Tulsa, Oklahoma. "One story leads to another story and pretty soon you find the start of it, the middle of it and you find out where it's at."
Moore said they've been following the Big Boy.
"We found out it was in going to Cheyenne so we came to the Denver area to do some work. Then the Forty Fourteen happened to be stopping in North Platte, Nebraska."
The Moore's said they are going to continue to follow it at least one more stop down the line on its journey.
