Big brand chooses North Platte to "spread happiness" with satirical ad
The malt beverage company Mike's Hard Lemonade launched a new ad campaign to bring more positive news to people, and instead of focusing on just big cities like New York and Los Angeles, the brand chose North Platte, Nebraska.
Why North Platte?
"As the brand is on a mission to deliver good news this summer, it wanted to start from the heart of the country and go out. As North Platte is the middle, what better way to spread this happiness and share its appreciation and gratitude for this community by "interrupting" local news programming to deliver ad spots in the form of good news happening around the town."
The brand's news station "MHL-TV" delivers so-called breaking news stories in North Platte including a live report from a field on a "corn ground-breaking", a coffee barista correctly spelling a name on a cup and even an appearance from Buffalo Bill himself.
The advertisement is running on KNOP April 1-7 during the 6 p.m. news. You can watch the full video clip above.
