Blowing snow, dangerous wind chills

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Greater Nebraska's latest snow storm is all about the winds, gusting out of the north from 40-45 miles per hour. Some schools forced to start classes late, a few cancelled school.

NBC Nebraska Meteorologist, Brayden Murdock, says "The winds are whipping snow across roads and streets. We are not seeing a lot of snow, but roads are slick. The blowing snow is significantly reducing visibility. Travel in open spaces can be hazardous."

The winds are giving us windchills in the single digits. Murdock says, "Please be careful if you venture outside."

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Western and North Central Nebraska through 6 this evening.
