NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - North Platte Police are putting the pieces together as they try to figure out why and how a North Platte man was shot and killed in the city Friday afternoon.
911 received the call of a shooting near Chestnut Street and A Street in North Platte around 2:30 p.m.
NPPD's Deputy Chief, Steve Reeves, says 911 received a call from a local man who says he shot another man as he defended himself.
Reeves says the ambulance took a 25-year-old to the hospital and that young man is dead.
Reeves says a 43-year-old man is in custody. Reeves says they have all the principal players and need to figure out what happened.
According to the victim's father, the 25-year-old was unarmed.
