Charges dropped in Ogallala murder case
The Keith County Attorney wanted to drop the charges against an Ogallala teen. Randy Fair filed the charges in Keith County District Court Friday. Keith County Judge Michael Piccolo signed the paper work dropping the charges against 18-year-old Amadeus Leroux with prejudice.
That means the County Attorney cannot file charges again at a later date. Judge Piccolo also said the charges were dropped at the state's expense. The teen was 15 when he was accused of stabbing and killing John Fratis in Ogallala in 2017.
The dropped charges follow the admittance of DNA evidence on the murder weapon last year.
Leroux had pled not guilty to charges of 2nd Degree Murder and possession of a deadly weapon to committ a felony.
