Storm cleanup underway in Chase County

IMPERIAL, Neb. KNOP-TV Eleanor Wagner has gone through her fair share of storms, but nothing quite like Wednesday night.

"It blew quite hard during the night," Wagner said. "I was glad we were safe."

It comes after hail and 80 mile per hour winds whipped through Imperial, impacting fields and homes on the town's northeast side.

"It went right into the cucumbers," said Wagner. "I did salvage some things but, I guess we should be thankful we got some (laughs)."

Homeowners like when Robert Harmon weren't as lucky.

It's pretty devastating, we were hit pretty hard," Harmon said. "I never had anything pound so hard."

The golf ball size hail pounded his siding and broke a window.

"The hail would hit the road and they would bound so hard up in the air, so it was a hard hit," said Harmon.

Still, he says he's grateful.

"So far we've been spared from bad tornadoes and that type of thing, but we only see one of these every ten years or so with bad hail."
