Breezy and cold weekend for Nebraska

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - As our last few chances for snow exit the region, our Friday morning will offer our coldest temperatures of the forecast. Luckily, temperatures will build at a fair pace into the afternoon. Highs across most of the state will peak in the 40s with only the northernmost areas sticking to the 30s. Winds will still be an issue with gusts building up to 40 mph in a few areas.

Over the weekend, temperatures will continue to build and our cloud cover looks to back off. Expect sunny skies and temperatures rising into the 50s for Saturday and 60s by Sunday. We'll also see a a breezy moments over the weekend but winds won't be nearly as strong as what we saw on Thursday.

Temperatures look to build into the 60s and 70s for most of the next work week with Monday and Thursday setting up to be our warmest days of the forecast.

Rain or snow chances look to hold off for some time. For now, the next seven days look to be free of precipitation.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny and breezy. Highs in the upper 30s and low 40s. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with 40 mph gusts.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Clear and cold. Lows in the 20s. West winds 5-10 mph

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid to upper 50s. West winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
