NORTH PLATTE, Neb. The community of North Platte participated in a benefit event for Army of Angels member Tammy Hall who is battling her second round of cancer.

The Army of Angels hosted the event at the House Bar.

People could purchase a ticket for a plate of food which consisted of a pulled pork sandwich or hot dog, potato salad, baked beans and a bag of chips.

The event held a live and silent auction as well.

Army of Angels representative Dana Green said it's important for them to take care of their own members.

"Tammy didn't really want anything. But, if we can't come and do something for our own we're defeating our purpose."

Another Army of Angels member, Patty Olson, concurred with Green and then praised the community for their help as well.

"We couldn't do it without them," Olson said.

"There's so many that donate we can't list everybody. So, this is our way of thanking North Platte because you helping us gives us to be able to help."

According to Green and Olson the Hall family is accepting the generosity with tears of gratitude.

"People don't realize all of the expenses cancer entails to a family and the person going through it. We hope this takes a little of the burden and stress off of them," said Olson.
