NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and the veterans who fought for our country. The daughters of the American Revolution took the time to honor all veterans this Monday afternoon.

The D.A.R hosted an event giving thanks to the veterans for their service to this country and awarded North Platte Police Chief Dan Hudson with a memento from their chapter.

As a veteran himself, Officer Hudson says the organization understands unity and its value to the country. Hudson said, "It's fascinating to talk to this audience because, they understand the we, they lived the we, their generation was never about the me, it was always about the we, it was about our nation, our country, our military service, about protecting our way of life and fighting evil."

D.A.R says they want to empower students and young adults to educate themselves about the nations principles and become informed citizens.
