A drive by honking was held Friday night in North Platte as a small gesture to relay the love for these students who have worked so hard for their diplomas.

Two houses on the 2900 block of 6th street coordinated the event and invited cars to drive by and honk to show their support.

Mom of a North Platte student, Suzanne Richardson said they put the event on to show their support for their girls.

"We did this for the girls because we think they deserve it and kind of just get together. I just want to tell them hang in there, it's all going to be okay and this is going to make them stronger in the end," said Richardson.

The North Platte Fire Department, North Platte EMS, and Lincoln County Sheriff's Office participated in the festivities as well as Groovy Granny.
