Drivers warned of snow packed roads in Panhandle

The Nebraska Department Transportation cameras show Interstate 80 is completely covered with snow Saturday morning. The 511 road report warns drivers to look out for icy bridges. The Interstate and Highway 30 in the Panhandle are snow covered from Big Springs to the Wyoming border.

Highway 385 from Sidney to Dalton is also snow covered. Other Panhandle roads are partially covered in snow and ice. Highway 385 is closed from Bridgeport to Angora and Alliance. A section of 26 is closed from Bayard to Angora.

The National Weather Service says snow is falling in the Panhandle. Rain is falling in Greater Nebraska, the Sandhills, and into Central Nebraska.

Forecasters say snow or a rain/snow mix may fall this morning. Rain is expected in the afternoon along with strong winds. Winds will be out of the north to northwest with gust up to 55 mph possible.
