Elementary students in need of more donations for boot drive

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Some North Platte students have started a boot drive and need more donations.

Buffalo Elementary School is hosting their first boot drive. Students said they noticed other kids not having boots to be able to play in the snow.

Six, 5th grade students attended a leadership conference at UNK and were awarded a mini-grant of $100. With that money they decided to begin a boot drive but they know that money won't go far so they need the public's help.

Fifth grade student leader Keyala Williams said she is happy when people bring by donations.

"It makes me feel really happy that they are giving us boots to donate to other kids," said Williams.

Principal Kim Flanders said this is their first year doing the drive and they are hoping to have enough success to continue it.

The school is accepting used or new boot donations at the school from now until they fill the need of all the students are in need.
