Former Kearney elementary teacher gets prison for child sexual assault

VALENTINE, Neb. (KSNB) A former Kearney elementary teacher is going to prison for sexually assaulting one of his students.

Cherry County judge Thursday sentence Eldon Haas, 64, Valentine. to 20-60 months in prison for sexual assault of a child. A Cherry county jury convicted Haas In October after a trial.

Haas formerly taught at Northeast elementary school in Kearney.

Court documents indicate that he brought one of his 5th grade male students to a home owned by his parents between 1994 and 1996. The records indicate that Haas touched the boy's stomach and genitals while lying in the same bed at the home near Valentine.
