NORTH PLATTE, Neb. It was the second night of prelims for the Miss Nebraska competition.

The crowd and the candidates themselves were anxious to see what would happen.

Last night Miss Nebraska State Fair Allison Baird of Gering, and Miss Heartland Allie Swanson of Omaha went home with awards. Well, Friday night would produce similar results.

Allison Baird won the Preliminary Evening Gown and Social Impact Initiative Statement Award and Allie Swanson won the Preliminary On-Stage Interview Award.

They had this to say about their accomplishments.

"Well first of all it means extra scholarship money so that's phenomenal," said Miss Nebraska State Fair Allison Baird.

"But it also means all of the work is really starting to pay off and the judges are getting to see the truest version of myself because going into this week that's what I wanted more than anything."

Miss Heartland Allie Swanson said, "I love that I have this award because I am representing the intelligence behind this community. When you get on the stage and you're speaking in front of this entire auditorium that's what you do as Miss Nebraska. To be able to articulate something about a current event shows that this organization isn't just about beauty, it's about brains."

Tomorrow night is the final night of competition.
