The North Platte Fire Department responded to grain truck fire on Highway 30 Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at 2:20 p.m. just west of the Log Cabin on Highway 30.

Captain Mel Everhart says the breaks on the axle overheated, causing a fire in the engine compartment.

The fire was put out by the time crews arrived on scene.

However, crews still made sure the fire was extinguished.

The grain trailer was empty.
