NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A Grand Island man was asked to bring his pickup truck with a special story to be featured at the mall for the Platte River Cruise Night.

Bruce Lavallvur fixed up his dad's 1954 Chevy pickup in 2001 to honor his memory and his love for the Huskers.

The Husker truck has received a lot of publicity. It was featured on a magazine cover with the Husker Track and Field team a few years ago.

Lavallvur says people love stopping to take a picture of it or with it.

"A lot of people honk and give me a thumbs up. Unless occasionally I'll see a Kansas fan who will honk and give me a boo and stuff like that. But most of the time it's positive," said Lavallvur.

Lavallvur says he plans to pass the truck on to his children as long as they promise to never sell it.
