NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP)- The St. Pat's volleyball team played in the state championship tournament for the first time since 2012 this afternoon, facing off against Archbishop Bergan at Lincoln East High School.
The underdog Irish were in for a tough match-up against the top-seed, and unfortunately weren't able to pull out the win, dropping the game in straight sets.
After the game, St. Pat's head coach Shelly Byrn had high praise for the Knights.
"They were quick, their offense was very quick. You know when we thought we were gonna set on a hitter, that setter just did a great job of moving around her offense, it would catch us off and we would end up with one block, where we should've had two," Byrn said.
"You know what, our libero struggled a little bit with those balls, they come off so high off the hitter you think they're gonna go out, but they get so much height they go straight down. We just didn't see hitter like that, like probably what Bergan has seen all year," Byrn added.
The Irish finish the season 24-9.
