Jakub "Kuba" Karwowski signs to play at Utah State

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - One father traveled overseas to see his son sign his next letter of intent and graduate from North Platte Community College on Friday.

Jakub "Kuba" Karwowski signed his letter to become a student athlete at Utah State next year to play basketball.

Kuba is a 7'1" sophomore originally from Warsaw, Poland.

At the signing were NPCC's basketball coaches, and Karwowski's father, Leszek, who traveled from Poland for the occasion.

Karwowski says he's enjoyed his time playing in North Platte, but is excited to keep playing basketball.

"Last season, people were trying to bringing me to their schools during my freshman year. That's how it was since March at the end of the last season. I was just trying to figure out what was the best for me. I am excited. It's another opportunity to play, and another chance to show up," said Karwowski.

Karwowski received first-team All-South Region 9 Honors and was named to the all Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference First Team.

He walked at his graduation receiving an Associate's degree in general studies Friday afternoon and plans on studying criminal justice at Utah State.
