Lady Knights softball team answers NPPD's challege at Dowhower

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. It was a great day for some softball as North Platte Community College faced the North Platte Police and Fire Departments.

NPPD made a post on social media on September 5 challenging the Lady Knights to a softball game.

Both teams met at Dowhower Field to battle it out in the dirt.

The Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo Team provided burgers and hot dogs for free will donations.

NPPD Investigator Russ Poe said the team was looking forward to the match.

"I think we're all excited. We're a little, on our side, interested to see how this is going to go because we're going to play a little bit of fast pitch ball today too," said Poe

"Most of us guys haven't played any sort of fast pitch ball for probably several years so we're going to do some fast pitch and probably get some slow pitch in maybe about 4th inning or something. We'll see how it goes. The first three innings will be pretty interesting I think."

The game was played in lieu of the annual police department versus fire department game.
