NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Bikers and walkers of the Lake Maloney hike and bike trail will soon have a longer path to enjoy.

Phase 4 of the trail will be under construction soon.

Commissioners accepted a bid from Meyers Construction in Broken Bow Monday morning. The bid came in at just over $250,000, which made it $2,000 under the engineers estimate for the cost of the project.

Chairman Joe Hewgley says the path is well used by the people of the county.

"We'll have a walking trail all the way around the south side of the lake now. It really gets used.. As a matter of fact people from town come out and use it. We have a good trail system throughout North Platte and Lincoln County," said Hewgley.

Over 3,000 feet of walkway will be added to the path with this phase of the project.
