Officers will be on the road using high visibility enforcement to ticket people not wearing seatbelts.

Officials say of the 175 people who died in Nebraska crashes last year, 66 percent were not wearing seatbelts.

"The Nebraska State Patrol will be collaborating with dozens of other law enforcement agencies throughout Nebraska to keep Nebraska roads safe over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend," said Lieutenant Buck Boje. "Travelers are encouraged to voluntarily follow the traffic safety laws, avoid distracted driving and have a sober driver and always wear your seatbelt."

The campaign starts Wednesday and ends on Sunday, December 1st.

The campaign is being made possible thanks in part to $20,800 grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
