Lions waive former Husker Abdullah

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Detroit Lions have waived former Nebraska Running Back Ameer Abdullah, according to a report from Ian Rapoport.

Abdullah, who was mostly inactive during the season, was waived to make room for a free agent wide receiver signing.

Abdullah entered the league in 2015, after being selected by Detroit in the second round.

He has 327 career rushing attempts for 1,251 yards and six touchdowns. He has also caught 57 passes for 420 yards and three scores.

Abdullah graduated from Nebraska in 2014, and during his career as a Husker, he had 813 rush attempts for 4,588 yards and 39 touchdowns. He also caught 73 passes for 690 yards and 7 scores.
