May "Click it or Ticket" Campaign ends with 858 speeding tickets

The summer driving season is underway and Nebraska State Troopers are working hard to keep Nebraska roads safe.

Troopers took 39 impaired drivers off the road during the annual "Click It or Ticket" campaign surrounding Memorial Day.

The Nebraska State Patrol issued 858 citations for speeding from May 15th through May 31st. Of the 858 tickets for speeding, 61 drivers were traveling at more than 100 miles per hour.

Troopers also issued 22 citations for no seat belt, five for improper child safety restraint. 26 for open alcohol container, 11 for minor in possession, 56 for driving under suspension. and 29 for no proof of insurance.

The "Click It or Ticket" campaign was made possible thanks in part to a grant for $25,000 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation - Highway Safety Office. The enforcement effort ran from May 15 through May 31.
