Mayor reflects on the last seven years

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP)- Dwlight Livingston has served two terms as Mayor and has decided to not run for a third. While he loves what he does and the community, he is ready to have more time with his family.

"I wouldnt've done this had I not had the support of my amazing wife and all of our grandchildren and children. You've just got to have that support," said Livingston.

He has served in the Air Force, the North Platte Police Department, and Mayor of North Platte. He takes pride in the community and how much they have accomplished these past seven years such as bringing new businesses, the downtown revitalization, and working towards creating more housing.

"But in all reality it's just not about me it's the team that we have around us. It's been a pleasure to serve North Platte, it has, over all these years, it's truly been a pleasure," said Livingston.

His goal is to complete as much as possible so his replacement has a solid foundation.

"Housing. Housing was a big issue. We've been working diligently on that for several years. We're doing much much better," said Livingston.

He takes pride in the fact that those he works with care and he thinks they will continue the progress North Platte has made.

"So I know that North Platte will be in good hands it doesn't necessarily have to be me. I know there's good people I know there is," said Livingston, "I've been around I've been on so many boards when I look around I'm like wow these are really talented people that truly care." about North Platte."
