NORTH PLATTE, Neb. Law enforcement, The Nebraska Department of Transportation and the media held a meeting today to discuss their communication and safety protocol.

Members from TV, radio and the newspaper were instructed on the proper procedure when working with law enforcement to cover car crashes, weather conditions and other dangerous situations.

Lieutenant Buck Boje hosted the event.

The overall message of the meeting was to make safety a top priority in any situation.

He said danger continues to rise as the traffic on I-80 continues grow.

"I-80, it truly is the busiest motor vehicle traffic byway in the country. There are thousands and thousands of vehicles," said Lt. Boje.

" I can tell you first hand that when I started back in 1990, that traffic compared to now has grown twice, maybe three times that amount."

Other speakers included Tara Kramer from Traffic Incident Management, Cody Thomas from the Nebraska State Patrol and Lieutenant Dan Newton from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
