NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A dedication was held for a memorial bench held Sunday for a North Platte woman who died at the age of 52.

Sunday afternoon, Cody Park was filled with family and friends of Jessica Polanco, a North Platte social worker and teacher at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church.

The bench was donated by the North Platte Jaycees and installed next to the pavilion at Cody Park.

The Jaycees Nebraska State President shared a message to the Polanco family. "We as the Jaycees in North Platte, we are thinking about you, the Jaycees in the state of Nebraska are thinking about you, we hate that you lost your mom and your aunt and your grandmother, but we just wanted to let you know that she is in our hearts always," said Jaycee Nebraska State President, Amy Taft.

After the bench dedication ceremony, the Jaycees purchased ice cream cones for the next 100 people that came to The Cody Park Concessions as a small way to honor and remember Polanco's legacy.
