NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The gym was filled with friends as families while 175 graduates walked across the stage at Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte Friday afternoon as they received their diplomas and certifications.
North Platte Community College had more than 175 graduate, but some chose not to walk in the commencement ceremony.
John Diaz is working working in his field and received his degree in electrical technology. "Oh I'm happy. I'm elated and I'm happy that I could actually do this.
During the ceremony, the NPCC choir sang, the Keenan family received the Presidents Award for their support and donations to NPCC and Wendi Stover was the student speaker.
Stover said after decades of working towards her degree, it feels great to have it done. "For me this has been 30 years in the making so it means everything. This is an accomplishment that I have been trying to achieve for years and years and years and to walk across that stage was just amazing."
She shared a message to her graduating peers.
"You have an entire life before you, go out and live it. Don't let anything hold you back. If you have a dream if you have a goal, or if you just want to accomplish something fun, go out and do it."
