Morrill man arrested for alleged armed robbery of Scottsbluff convenience store
A Morrill man is behind bars for the alleged armed robbery of a Scottsbluff convenience store Tuesday afternoon.
Scottsbluff Police Capt. Brian Wasson says Richard Blackmon, 21, was taken into custody Wednesday on charges of robbery and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
In a release, Wasson says investigators identified a vehicle they believed was connected to the robbery while reviewing video surveillance from Route 26 Mart and surrounding businesses in the area. The identification of this vehicle led to search warrants being executed on the vehicle identified as well as an address belonging to the vehicles registered owner. This residence was located within the City of Scottsbluff.
While executing the warrant on the residence, the vehicle arrived and was also searched. The investigation led officers to a male suspect, Blackmon, who was connected to the residence and the suspect vehicle. According to Wasson, Blackmon was taken into custody, interviewed and arrested.
Wasson says others were interviewed as part of the investigation however they were released. Evidence was also collected from the vehicle and residence searched. The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the execution of the search warrant.
