NORTH PLATTE, Neb. KNOP-TV Nebraska Secretary of State Robert Evnen visited Bulgaria last month as part of a trade mission with the European country.

Evnen, along with several state ag leaders, met with Bulgaria's prime ministers to grow Nebraska's international ag trade.

He says Bulgaria's dry bean market is growing and with Nebraska being number one in growing great northern beans, the partnership only makes sense.

"We have some of the largest processors in the country here in the western part of our state," Evnen said. "Bulgarians consume dry beans everyday, but they only grow ten percent of what they consume and they import all of the rest so this is a tremendous market opportunity for our producers."

Evnen expects orders will be in place by the end of the year.
