NORTH PLATTE, Neb. The North Platte High School Track and Field Team are getting an upgrade to their shot put area.

Beveridge and the North Platte High School Track and Field team members spent the day installing a second throwing pit.

Beveridge donated their equipment and volunteers provided the work.

The NPHS team members say they're excited to have the new addition.

"It'll be really nice because usually we have to have everybody throw out of this ring behind me here," said NPHS Senior Elliot Purdy as he gestures to the current throwing pit.

"Now that we have two rings with the gravel pit it will be a little easier to split up and maybe we send the JV there and the Varsity here or vice versa. It will get a lot more throws in for sure."

The group started around 6 a.m. and hoped to have it done before the frost set in.
