The Nebraska State Patrol confirms reports that a semi caught on fire on I-80 Saturday afternoon.

It happened at 2 p.m. by mile marker 187 on the westbound side. NSP confirms the westbound side of I-80, near the accident, was closed for 45 minutes to one hour.

The truck was carrying tomatoes, which were exploding because of the heat. That added to the delay.

NSP said the driver had trouble with his breaks, which caused heat to build up and that ultimately led to the fire.

No injuries have been reported.
