NSP salutes NDOT's proactive efforts during the recent winter storms

North Platte The Nebraska State Patrol stayed busy during the latest round of winter weather after parts of the state saw more than a foot of snow and shut down a good stretch of highways and I-80 for 24 hours.

Troopers responded to 125 motor assists, 21 crashes as well as 29 other incidents.

In Troop D, there were several reports of slide-offs. A truck driver was also cited for crossing the gates while the interstate was closed.

Overall, troopers say they've been very pleased with the proactive approach the Nebraska Department of Transportation has taken during the last two storms to close the interstate early in order to keep snow plow drivers, emergency responders and motorists safe.
