Eight teachers and two principals competed in a 'No Shave November' contest to benefit a non-profit organization in the North Platte community.

Adams Middle School's male staff shaved their faces at the beginning of November and had a competition for the month of November to see who could grow the best facial hair.

In order for the students to 'vote' for their favorite mustache or beard, they had to bring in an item to be donated to the Women's Resource Center in North Platte.

Each item was assigned a point value and the teacher who recieved the most points was the winner.

Adams Middle School eighth grade social studies teacher, Tyson Chromy was this years winner.

He said he is excited to have the trophy and says thank you to the students that brought in items.

"[I feel] pretty good," said Chromy, "You know, second year being at this school and taking the crown is always something that you're a little prideful about so I'll be talking about this to the other male teachers for a while.

To the students who voted for him Chromy said, "Just thank you, I really appreciate it, great job bringing in all the items and everything, the cause always goes to that organization, but giving the points to me, always means a lot."

Adams 8th grade student, Gracie Persinger said the contest brought energy to the school.

"The teachers have been more excited, trying to rack in their points and the students have been excited to give the teachers their supplies," said Persinger, "It's nice to know that the school cares for the people that need help and that they need these supplies and all the items."

Executive Director for the Women's Resource Center, Linda Logsdon said, "We are very appreciate of the school kids bringing in all these donations. They will definitely help our moms dads and our babies at the Women's Resource Center. We are always needing diapers, we have given well over 21,000 diapers this year, so to get diapers and clothing it means a lot to our parents."

This was Adams' 4th year holding the contest. This year they were able to donate more than 100 items to the Women's Resource Center.

The Adams Middle School No Shave November contest winners are as follows:

2016: Brent Aufdenkamp

2017: Jim Eisele

2018: E. Brunz J. Zilla

2019: Tyson Chromy
