Chad Nelsen noticed people either asking for, or offering help on social media.

Nelsen decided to create the North Platte Canteen for COVID-19 Facebook Page for people to utilize.

In less than a week the page already has more than 3,000 members.
Nelsen said he is overwhelmed by the generosity of the people in North Platte.

"It's overwhelming to me. I'm a single father with two little kids so I have very little to offer at times. This was one of the easiest things I could do to offer help to people was to congregate everybody into one area on Facebook," said Nelsen. "It's just overwhelming to me to see the amount of help that's going out there and helping people. It really touches my hear."

Nelsen's sister has started to assist him in moderating the page due to the growth.
