Competing in a rodeo takes a lot of time, dedication, and commitment, and on Friday, the North Platte Kids Klub was able to get a glimpse of it first hand.

Kids learned some of the basics like tying and roping a calf, barrel racing, and bull riding.

"I've always loved the rodeo but I think this going to make me love the rodeo even more," said Jadelyn Rutherford.

Kids were trained by MPCC students involved in this year's MPCC Stampede Rodeo.

"I was kind of like a VIP because I got to get in there for free and do all kinds of things," said Rutherford.

The activity is made possible through a grant from the state that is funded by the Nebraska Lottery.

Afterwards, the Kids Klub were able to watch real professionals compete at Friday's rodeo.
