North Platte lifts "Snow Emergency" for city

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -- UPDATE (Feb. 10, 2018): The City of North Platte lifts the local SNOW EMERGENCY that officials issued on Friday night.

SNOW EMERGENCY ISSUED EFFECTIVE 10 pm till further notice. Please remove vehicles from snow routes.


The City of North Platte declared a local SNOW ALERT Friday afternoon to warn people to remove their vehicles from the emergency routes.

A SNOW ALERT means weather conditions are favorable for a heavy snowfall, and it will usually be used prior to the more serious SNOW EMERGENCY.

The purpose of a SNOW ALERT is to give people more advance warning to move their cars from snow routes before conditions require us to activate the SNOW EMERGENCY.

Meteorologists say snow will continue tonight and North Platte could see two inches. Wind chills readings will be -10 to a -15 Saturday and Sunday morning.
