North Platte kids experience the Omaha Zoo

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Seashells, penguins and sharks were some of the things kids got to learn about at a special Kids Klub event at North Platte High School.

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and aquarium Provided an all-day learning experience for North Platte Public Schools 'Kids Klub' program Thursday.

The zoo and aquarium sent bins full of educational materials and things students could touch and feel like sponges and seashells.

At the all-day event the kids had 'Animal Olympics', an under the sea photo booth and two special "Zoom" video sessions with zoo staff to see the animals and ask questions.

Ethan Moore is in 3rd grade and said he liked all the activities.
"I'm pretty happy because if this weren't here I would have to go to somewhere else where I probably wouldn't want to go unless it was actually fun and so I'm glad we could come here and do these fun activities, with crafts, different fun activities."

The kids received prizes at the end of the Kids Klub event for being able to answer questions about their 'under the sea' day.
