NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The local health department is getting its first positive tests back for the West Nile virus. West Central District Health Department set six traps. Director, Shannon Vanderheiden, says tests revealed a positive pool of mosquitoes along Newberry Access.

Vanderheiden streses there are no human reported cases of West Nile in the region at this time. She strongly encourages everyone to wear long sleeves and pant, and use repellent with DEET.
