Our first accumulating snow of the season looks to impact the area Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Most of the coverage area are under Winter Weather Advisories until Wednesday morning and Cherry County in northern Nebraska is under a Winter Storm Warning. Rain will gradually turn over to snow across the area on Tuesday with areas along and west of a line from Hays Center to Bassett seeing the greatest impacts from snow. Areas under the Winter Weather Advisory, including North Platte, could see as much as 5" of accumulating snow with the greatest snowfall amounts expected across northern parts of the state and into Cherry County, where 6" to 9" of accumulating snow is possible.
Snow will be heavy at times which could reduce visibility to below a mile at times. Winds are expected to blow from the north at around 10 to 20 MPH, this will also impact visibility and travel across the coverage area. Expect slick roads and difficult travel Tuesday morning and into the day on Wednesday.
Snow is expected to taper off from south to north as we head into Wednesday morning, where we should see a generally dry, cloudy, but cold day.
