NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Osgood Elementary celebrated more than the beginning of summer vacation on Monday morning. The school was recognized for being classified as an "Excellent" school by state standards.
Schools are classified on a scale from state test scores as "excellent," "great," and "needs improvement."
Osgood's principal and superintendent thanked everyone for working hard to receive the recognition. Both said it takes a joint effort between students, parents and teachers to perform so well.
3rd grade teacher Jill Hansen agreed with their statement that there are many people behind the school's success.
"This award is such an honor to have here at Osgood. It's such a collaboration between the parents, the community, the teachers, students and staff. Everybody that works here, we just have high expectations. Everybody does," said Hansen.
Students, parents and staff were served a barbecue on behalf of Nebraskaland National Bank. Kids also enjoyed their annual field day this afternoon.
