The fire was called in around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, where crews worked to put out the fire near the front top of the building.

Hastings Fire said the building, which is being converted into Lifehouse Church, did sustain damage to the exterior, but there was no major damage inside.

Hastings Fire Prevention Officer Troy Vorderstrasse said the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature due to an electrical short in the area of the roof line where it started.

He said it was a tough fire to get to based on where it was located because they had to get up about it.

Vorderstrasse estimates the damage to be around $35,000.

Nobody was injured.
