KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) A Kearney man, already a convicted felon, now faces two more felony charges after police found drugs and a loaded semi-automatic rifle when he fell asleep in his vehicle.

Police arrested Brandon Benham, 28, last week in an apartment complex parking lot in southeast Kearney. Police had received a call about an unwanted man sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot. Police discovered Benham sleeping in a black Jeep and arrested him for an outstanding probation hold. An officer then found meth, a small amount of marijuana, some drug paraphernalia and an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle with a loaded magazine attached.

Benham is charged with felony possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and felony meth possession. He was also cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. His next court date is January 28th. If convicted on the felony charges, he could get up to 100 years in prison.
