UPDATE: Power restored to 500 customers in North Platte, Maxwell

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - UPDATE: As of 11 a.m., power has been restored to nearly 500 customers in the North Platte and Maxwell areas.

The outage involved equipment that delivers power from NPPD to Dawson PPD. The outage lasted over two hours.

A few isolated outages remain in other areas.

Updates on outages are available at Dawson Public Power District’s Facebook page. Call 308-324-2386 to report outages. Crews cannot be dispatched based on social media posts or emails.

An NPPD spokesperson said a 115kv transmission line that serves substations in North Platte and Maxwell locked out at around 7:20 a.m.

This caused outages in North Platte which is fed by the sub-station in North Platte and customers of the Dawson Public Power District. NPPD is working to re-route power through other transmission lines.

Homes and businesses in North Platte are left without power Monday morning.

NBC Nebraska has confirmed the eastern half of the city is without power, from Willow Street, east.

Municipal Light and Water officials have also confirmed that some sections of the west side are without power as well. They do not know at this time the reason for the outage.

If you are traveling, use extra caution as roads are slick and stop lights aren't working due to the outage.

The City Street Department will begin clearing all residential streets and need residents to remove their vehicles.
