NPPD enlisted the help of several volunteers from Miss Nebraska's Outstanding Teen Organization as well as the First Lutheran Youth Group.

The Santa Cop tradition was started in 1985 by Lieutenant Rick Ryan and has been held annually ever since.

NPPD collects donations and applications all year in preparation for this event.

This year they decided to join forces with The Salvation Army.

"This year we decided to partner up with the Salvation Army and streamlined our application process," said Officer Beth Kerr. "We came together and we held an event for several hours for a week and accepted applications."

To make a donation or to apply for the program, you can contact the North Platte Police Department for further information.
