They started on February 5th and collected money until 8:30 Friday morning. The money goes to the American Heart Association.

The school holds the challenge every year around Valentine's Day. Their goal this year was $2,000 and they were able to raise $2466.65.

To celebrate reaching their goal, they participated in a heart challenge in the gym at the school where they rotated around to different stations that were designed for their heart. The stations included: basketball knock out, relay races, hula hoop, jump rump and a dance party.

Fourth grader Ben Carhart said he had his strategy for collecting funds.

"I went around on the streets knocking on every single door and hope that people say yes or you can go online and ask people for donations," said Carhart.

The school says they have been doing this fundraiser for over 30 years and they plan to continue the tradition.
