Semi-cab fire shuts down west bound I-80 at North Platte's west interchange

Nebraska State Patrol shut down the west bound lane of I-80 around 5:45 p.m., Thursday, as the North Platte Fire Department put out a semi-cab fire near the North Platte West Interchange.(SOURCE: Cortney Kay Closman).

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - UPDATE:
The Nebraska State Patrol saying the driver of the semi saw smoke coming from his cab and pulled over to call 911. By the time he pulled over, the cab was completely engulfed in flames. Luckily, the driver escaped unharmed.

Westbound traffic was shut down for about half and hour while fire crews put out the flames. Traffic was diverted at the main North Platte exit onto Highway 30. The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical, which started in the engine bay. The driver is employed by "Family N Revenue Transportation" of Illinois.
