Smart Women, Smart Money Conference set for Omaha
Learning to get control of your finances is an important skill but it can be a a difficult one to master.
A statewide conference called Smart Women Smart Money is being held in Omaha to help women take control of their finances.
Organizers say the reason why this conference is geared toward women is because they are increasingly in charge of family finances.
It is believed women will be in control of two thirds of the nations wealth in the next ten years.
Organizers of the conference add schools do not concentrate on teaching finances enough so that is why this conference is so important.
Nebraska State Treasure John Murante says he got involved because is is such an important topic. Murante says, "Everyone of us have question to ask so for us to be able to bring together a group of experts and then open it up to the public so that 1500 to 2000 to come and ask their questions and get their answers dthat is what we are really trying to take away.
Derek Kreifels is the President of the State Financial Officer Foundation.
He is one of the organizers of the conference he says, "we know there is the huge gambit of women from all backgrounds.
we have women 16 to 92 that come to this event so we are really excited and passionate about helping them."
